※About rarity

Super Angulon-R 21mm f4, 3-cam mount. Manufactured in 1970, with a serial number in the 2.39 million range. Leica catalog number 11813.

This lens was introduced in 1969 for the Leica R-series, specifically for the Leica R camera. It was manufactured by Schneider as an OEM supply for Leica. This lens is notable for being Leica's first retrofocus design.

With a 8-element, 10-group construction, the lens is designed to correct optical issues using multiple lens elements, resulting in minimal distortion, high resolution, and reduced vignetting. The closest focusing distance is 0.2m, with both feet and meter markings on the focus scale.

The lens retains its paint on the edge portions, showing minimal signs of use, and presents a clean overall appearance. Both the helicoid and aperture ring provide smooth operation with a comfortable torque feel.

The middle lens element exhibits a very slight coating blemish, typical of Angulon lenses, but this is unlikely to affect real-world performance. Otherwise, the glass is clean with no noticeable cleaning marks or defects.

The lens comes with the original hood and front and rear caps.
