The Summicron-R 90mm f2, early version, features a 2-cam design. Introduced in 1969 during the Leica SL era, it carries the Leitz product code 11219.
This lens, with a serial number in the 2,710,000 range, was manufactured in 1974 by Leitz Canada. It employs a 4-group, 5-element optical construction and includes a built-in hood.
Filters are mounted using Series 7 filters secured with the 14161R retaining ring. Note that from the later version onward, the filter thread was updated to E55.
The lens exhibits no signs of use and features an exceptionally clean exterior.
All functions are in proper working order, with smooth operation of both the aperture and focusing helicoid. While there is minimal dust and faint haze around the edges of an internal element, the glass is in excellent condition for this lens model. The center remains crystal clear. Maintenance can be provided upon request for an additional fee.
The results of practical testing were impressive, with sample images posted in the gallery. All were taken at maximum aperture, demonstrating the lens's capabilities: a soft and gentle rendering at close focus, transitioning to exceptionally sharp performance at greater distances.
The set includes the matching serial-numbered original box (without internal padding), front and rear caps, a 14161R retaining ring, and a Series 7 UVa filter, all original accessories in excellent condition.
