In this feature, we are introducing 13 FISON hoods all at once, and this is the 9th version. 9/13
With retaining screw, brass body with aluminum front section, chrome-plated screw, two-line engraving.
A hood for the Elmar 50mm f3.5.
This is a black-painted FISON, a later screw-equipped model. Compared with the previous version, which had an aluminum front section and a nickel screw, the screw was changed to chrome plating.
Chrome plating began to appear on Leitz products from the early 1930s, and this FISON is likely from around that period as well. To eyes accustomed to the nickel plating that was mainstream at the time, chrome plating must have appeared brilliantly bright.
As with the previous model, the engraving is arranged in two lines. The lettering is not silver-filled, but engraved directly into the aluminum surface.
This example also bears the Germany marking, suggesting that it was intended for export.
The base of the hood is made of brass, while the front section and the leaf springs that attach to the lens are made of aluminum. The entire hood is finished in beautiful black paint.
It weighs approximately 9.8g, making it very lightweight, almost half the weight of an all-brass FISON. FISON is also known for its wide range of variations, and it is the kind of item that makes you want to complete the whole set, haha.
A rare piece.
There are slight paint losses in various areas, and a few touch-ups can be seen at the front edge, but considering its age, it remains in very good condition. No distortion or deformation is visible.
Tested and confirmed to fit an A36 Elmar. We checked it on several Elmar lenses, and the fit is slightly tight.
