Summaron 35mm f2.8 for LM Mount. This Leica lens has the product code SIMOM-M, later designated as 11306. This unit has a serial number in the 1.78 million range and was manufactured in 1960. It features an E39 filter size and a minimum focusing distance of 0.7m.
By removing the set screws on the mount, this lens can be converted to a Leica screw mount, making it compatible with Barnack Leica cameras.
Though it retains the same 4-group, 6-element optical formula as its predecessor, the Summaron f/3.5, the adoption of new glass types brought significant improvements in brightness. This version also boasts enhanced color reproduction and resolution. Even wide open, it delivers sharp images with a gentle vignetting effect, adding a beautiful, atmospheric character to photos.
The infinity lock design was also updated, and in appearance, this lens closely resembles the legendary 8-element Summicron 35mm, which was released in the same year.

The lens barrel shows significant signs of use, with numerous scuffs and scratches. However, there are no dents or major impacts, and it remains fully functional with no issues in practical use.
Fully overhauled in February 2025, with meticulous servicing ensuring a smooth aperture ring movement with a satisfying click, and an excellent helicoid feel. The rangefinder coupling and focusing are spot-on.
Optically, there is slight separation along the edges of the front group, as well as a few light cleaning marks on the front element. Under strong LED light, haze due to coating deterioration can be seen in the middle element. While this could impact image quality in direct, intense lighting conditions, it should pose no issues for regular shooting. The coating remains intact across all surfaces.
