Summilux-M 35mm f1.4 ASPH. Introduced in 1994, this model is the successor to the first ASPHERICAL version, commonly known as AA (Double-A), which employed two aspherical lens elements. This particular unit bears a serial number in the 4,040,000 range and was manufactured in 2007. It features a 6-bit code, and Leica’s catalog number for this lens is 11874. The filter thread is E46, and it is compatible with the dedicated clip-on hood, model 12589.

Renowned for its delicate and beautiful bokeh, this lens was produced until 2009, with an estimated total production of around 21,000 units. However, some units are known to exhibit instability in rangefinder coupling.

This specific lens underwent servicing at Leica headquarters under its previous owner. In test shots conducted with our demo Leica M10-P, the lens showed a slight front-focus tendency at maximum aperture, but stopping down by one stop resulted in perfectly accurate focus. The rangefinder coupling is appropriate and performs reliably.

There is one very minor ding on the tip of the barrel, but filters can still be attached smoothly without any issues. Aside from this, there are barely any signs of use, and the overall exterior remains clean and well-maintained.

All functions are in proper working order. Both the aperture ring and focusing helicoid operate smoothly. As noted earlier, the rangefinder coupling maintains accurate precision.

The lens glass is free of any noticeable cleaning marks or haze, offering a crystal-clear view. You can enjoy its high-contrast imaging performance.

Included are the 12589 hood, 14040 hood cap, B+W UV filter, front and rear caps, and a pouch. The claws on this dedicated hood are known to be prone to chipping during attachment or removal, but both sides are intact and firmly in place.
