This is an early version of the 2nd generation with a silver barrel. It closely retains the design of the 1st generation’s silver barrel. Shortly after, the barrel transitioned to black.
Featuring a 7 elements in 5 groups optical design, this lens shares a nearly identical exterior to the 1st generation Summilux. However, the optical design was revised to include an air glass, adding a touch of sharpness at wider apertures.
While the 1st generation’s softness remains appealing, this 2nd generation strikes an exquisite balance, offering a crisper rendering at f1.4.

The filter diameter is E43. Hoods fit XOOIM, 12521G, and 12586.

There are minor scuffs near the front hood mount and around the "GERMANY" engraving at the base of the barrel, but the overall exterior remains exceptionally clean.
Fully overhauled in 2024, it maintains excellent operational feel, with smooth aperture and helicoid movements. Rangefinder coupling is spot on.
The glass is free of noticeable scratches or haze, with exceptionally clear and pristine optics. Clean examples of the silver-barrel Summilux 2nd generation are becoming increasingly rare, making this an excellent choice for collectors and users alike.
Comes with genuine front and rear caps and E43 UVa filters.
