A lens hood for Contax cameras, manufactured by Zeiss Ikon Stuttgart. Product code: 1104. 40.5mm screw-in. Both the hood and the base are made of bakelite and are molded as a single piece.
This product dates back to the era of the Contax IIa and IIIa models and is compatible with the 50mm Sonnar and Tessar lenses.
Around the same time, Zeiss Ikon East Germany also released a very similar 40.5mm screw-in lens hood for Contax S, with product code 20601. This was a popular design material and shape around the 1950s.

The hood has a robust and solid design, reflecting the masculine aesthetic typical of Zeiss. It offers a stark contrast in design to the hoods made by Leitz.

There is some wear on the bakelite parts, and a small amount of matte paint has come off on the inside.
It is still good condition for use.
