Sumaron 35mm f2.8 Leica's product code is SIMOM-M, with the later code being 11306. This particular unit, serial number 1.62 million, was made in 1958 and is from the first year of production for the f2.8 version of the Zumaron. The filter size is E39, and the minimum focusing distance is 0.7m.
By removing the screw on the mount, this lens can be converted to a Leica screw mount, making it compatible with the Barnack Leica as well.
While it shares the same 4-group, 6-element design as the previous f3.5 model, this version has been upgraded with new glass, resulting in a brighter lens. Color reproduction and resolution have been improved as well. The lens provides sharp rendering with pleasant peripheral falloff at full aperture, offering a beautifully atmospheric image. The shape of the infinity stopper has also been changed, and it closely resembles the legendary Summicron 35mm 8-element lens introduced in the same year.
With its classic design from the good old days, it fits perfectly on the current digital M bodies.
The lens barrel shows minor signs of wear, but the overall exterior condition is good. There are no dents or significant damage.
It was fully overhauled in December 2024, and thanks to meticulous servicing, all functions operate smoothly with a pleasant feel. The rangefinder coupling is perfectly aligned.
The lens shows slight coating wear due to age, with 2-3 faint cleaning marks on the front element, but these do not affect actual shooting results.
In terms of practical use, it is in a very good, clean condition. The results from test shots were excellent. We hope you will check the test shots in the showroom.
It comes with the original front and rear caps.
