※About rarity

Summicron 50mm f2 Black Paint, rigid barrel, late model. Red scale. Serial number in the 1.92 million range, manufactured in 1962. This painted lens is from the same era as the black paint Leica M3 and M2 with serial numbers around the 1.04 to 1.05 million range.

The black paint has naturally worn away in areas that are frequently touched, revealing the brass underneath and giving it a rich patina from age. A perfect match for black-painted Leica M3, MP, M2, M4, etc. Completely original.

The paint on the edge and base of the filter mount shows a bit of exposed brass. The aperture ring and barrel base exhibit some bubbling, giving the lens an appearance of having aged beautifully. There are no visible dents or dings. Fully overhauled in 2024, with the helicoid and aperture ring offering an exceptionally smooth operation.

The glass shows only minimal coating wear, with no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, resulting in a very clear view. The rangefinder coupling is perfect, and the focus is spot-on. Comes with a pristine brass black paint front cap and a flat-style rear cap, both genuine original parts.
