The Plaubel Makina 670 is an improved version of the original Makina 67, designed as a rangefinder medium-format camera that uses 120/220 film, featuring a 6×7 format. While the brand is German, the design is by Konica, showcasing a collaboration between high-quality engineering.
Equipped with a high-performance Nikkor lens, the camera features a 4-element, 6-group optical design that remains highly regarded even in modern photography. The 670 model includes enhancements such as ribbing on the front body, improving grip and handling. Additionally, to prevent accidental shutter release, the camera is designed so that the shutter cannot be activated when the lens board is closed. This attention to detail makes the Makina 670 a reliable choice for photographers seeking quality in a medium-format rangefinder camera.
The Plaubel Makina 670 is in exceptional condition, showing minimal signs of use and maintaining a very clean appearance. There are no noticeable signs of wear around the hanging ring, and typical issues such as body cracks or significant scratches are absent.
In October 2024, the finder was cleaned, and a thorough inspection was performed, ensuring that all functions operate smoothly. The exposure meter is working accurately enough for practical use. While many Makina series cameras often have clouding in the finder, this unit exhibits only slight cloudiness visible under strong LED light, with good visibility and solid contrast in the rangefinder image.
Alongside its beautiful exterior, the lens is in excellent condition, free from cloudiness or noticeable cleaning marks, presenting very clear glass. The package includes the original cap, hood, rubber eyepiece, and the original box.
The hood shows some wear and scratches, and unfortunately, there is a small crack on the cap, though it remains quite aesthetically pleasing. Overall, this is a rare find in such great condition for a Makina 670!
