The celebrated German Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f1.5, a standard lens for the postwar Prominent series. This example is an early 1955 production. It comes with the highly sought-after Amedeo rangefinder-coupled adapter, allowing you to enjoy shooting on Leica M bodies. Compatible filters are 47mm screw-in or 49mm inner-thread types.
The Nokton was designed by Dr. Tronnier, who also created the Xenon 50mm f1.5. It features a 5-group 7-element optical design. Near wide-open apertures, the lens delivers a beautiful rendering with a crisp, well-defined center and a gentle, subdued periphery. Considering its large maximum aperture, the compact size is another strong point that enhances shooting comfort.
A Prominent I body is included, but it is unserviced and should be considered a bonus item. The body is not covered by any operation guarantee.
Original Leica screw-mount Noktons are extremely expensive due to their rarity, but this lens offers comparable performance at a far more reasonable cost. Thanks to precise modification work, it also focuses as close as 0.7 meters, which is a major advantage.
There are light scuff marks on the barrel, but the overall appearance is clean. The included adapter also shows minimal signs of use and matches the condition of the lens itself.
The lens received a full overhaul in November 2025. At the same time, the Amedeo adapter was adjusted for accurate rangefinder coupling. Coupling is spot on from the minimum distance of 0.7 meters up to 5 meters. Beyond that toward infinity, it tends to back focus slightly, but stopping down one to two stops brings it well within practical use.
The front element shows very slight cleaning marks, but there is no haze and the glass is clear. The typical balsam separation often seen in Nokton lenses is not present. Test shots also produced excellent results.
Included items are the Amedeo Prominent to Leica M adapter, a Prominent I body (unserviced and without warranty), and a leather case.
