Summicron-R 50mm f2 with 2-cam. Leica product code is 11228. Serial number is in the 2.35 million range, made in 1969 in Germany. This is a standard lens for the Leica R mount, commonly known as the narrow-barrel Summicron. The optical design consists of 6 elements in 4 groups, based on a modified Gauss-type formula. Minimum focusing distance is 50 cm.
With a mount adapter, it can be used on a wide range of cameras including digital Leica M and SL series.
The lens barrel is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use. There is a faint trace of paint loss at the tip from attaching and removing the hood, but it is barely noticeable at a glance, giving the appearance of a near-unused item.
Fully overhauled in July 2025. The helicoid is exceptionally smooth, and the aperture ring has a satisfying click feel, offering an unexpectedly refined operation for an R-mount lens, which often feels loose.
There are two very faint cleaning marks on the front element and slight aging-related deterioration of the coating, but no haze or fungus, resulting in a clean and clear optic. This early-type Summicron delivers its full imaging potential.
Comes with a clean genuine 12564 hood, Series VI filter, 14160 filter ring, and caps.
