※About rarity

Nickel Elmar 5cm f3.5 in Leica screw mount. This is the desirable meters scale version with the half-turn type focusing mount. Serial number is in the 290-thousand range, made in 1936. The helicoid is marked with the number 7. Although the Leica IIIa had already been introduced and chrome finishes were becoming the mainstream, black and nickel Leica DII and DIII bodies were still being sold during this period.
The optical formula is 3 groups and 4 elements, uncoated. As the most classic standard lens, the Elmar continued to be produced even after the war, offering the attractive rendering that defines vintage Leica lenses. Its compact size and light weight are also part of its charm.
Compatible hoods include the FISON. Our original FB-07 hood with built-in aperture control can also be used.

There is wear on the collapsible barrel, plating loss on the base edges, and some distortion to the nameplate, though it has been repaired. The overall appearance shows the kind of use expected for its age, making it a good condition lens for practical shooting.
Fully overhauled in November 2025, including focus adjustment. Both the helicoid and aperture operate with smooth, refined action. At infinity the rangefinder image slightly overshoots, but coupling is accurate from the minimum distance all the way to infinity.
The front element shows a noticeable number of light cleaning marks, but there is no haze.
Comes with third-party front and rear caps. A practical nickel Elmar that can be used freely without worry.
