Leitz code 10103. Serial number in the 1.24 million range, manufactured in 1969, Leica MDa. The MDa is a simplified version of the Leica M4, with the viewfinder, rangefinder, self-timer, and frame selector omitted. The film counter is automatic reset type, and the rewind mechanism is the same crank style as the M4.
The MDa was originally developed for documentation and scientific research purposes, but today it is most commonly used with a Visoflex and Visoflex lenses, or paired with a wide-angle lens and an external finder. Combining it with a Super-Angulon 21mm, Elmarit 28mm, or Summaron 35mm and a dedicated finder, it also makes a versatile and enjoyable street snap shooter.
Light scuffs are visible on the front of the top cover and the baseplate, but there are no dings or dents. The vulcanite covering remains completely original.
Overhauled in September 2025, including shutter curtain replacement. The shutter, film advance, and other operations are smooth and responsive, making it a pleasure to use. Ready for practical shooting.
