※About rarity

Leica M4-2 in black chrome finish, serial number in the 1.52 million range, manufactured in 1979 by Leitz Canada. The Leitz product code is 10410.
The M4-2 debuted in 1978, following the release of the M5 and CL, and was produced for only three years until 1980 before being succeeded by the M4-P. Since then, no models have returned to the M5-style body, and the design lineage of the M4 has continued to this day—suggesting that this classic style is what Leica M users have truly desired.

The brightline viewfinder supports 35mm, 50mm, 90mm, and 135mm framelines, just like the M4.
Based on the M4, the M4-2 omits the self-timer. It features a hot shoe with an integrated X-sync contact and is designed to support a motor winder.
Though production numbers were low and its popularity has long been overshadowed by other M models, the M4-2 has seen a recent surge in recognition and demand.

There are extremely minor scuffs on the top cover that are only visible under certain lighting conditions, a small spot of paint loss on the back door, and some faint whitish scuff marks along with a single light scratch on the bottom plate. Overall, the body is clean and attractive, with no noticeable dings, damage, or peeling of the chrome plating.
Fully overhauled in June 2025, all operations are smooth and reliable. The viewfinder is bright and clear, and the rangefinder contrast is excellent.
