Alfinar 38mm f3.5 wide-angle lens, crafted by the Dutch company Old Delft for use with the Alpa Alnea. This second-generation lens was produced between 1951 and 1956, with a limited run of just 604 units. Featuring a Tessar-type design with a configuration of 3 groups and 4 elements, it offers a minimum focusing distance of 2 feet (approximately 60 centimeters).
While the first-generation Alfinar was designed for the Alpa Reflex and had a focal length of 35mm, the second-generation lens was developed as a new design to accommodate the Alnea, leading to the introduction of the 38mm focal length. Weighing in at a mere 74 grams, this lens is incredibly lightweight and compact, making it an ideal companion for photographers seeking portability.
Please note that due to a small protrusion at the rear of the lens, it is not compatible with the Alpa-Leica rangefinder coupling adapter. Instead, we recommend enjoying this lens with Alpa bodies or mirrorless cameras for optimal performance.
Excellent condition, exhibiting minimal signs of use and retaining a clean appearance. There is no noticeable aluminum corrosion or significant paint loss, showcasing its well-maintained state.
The lens underwent a full overhaul in 2019, and even after nearly five years, the aperture and helical focus operate with a pleasing torque, ensuring a comfortable user experience. While a very faint coating blemish can be seen on the inner element under LED light, it is unlikely to affect image quality in practical use. The lens has been tested for focus accuracy on an Alpa 10d body, confirming its functionality.
This lens is particularly appealing for its soft, smooth rendering at wide open, combined with its unique 38mm focal length and lightweight construction. It comes with original front and rear caps, as well as a protective filter that features an original frame but has had the glass replaced. Please note that the decal on the front cap reading "ALPA ALNEA" has significantly deteriorated.
