The Leica CL is a compact Leica camera born from the collaboration between Leica and Minolta. Manufactured in 1973/74. It comes standard with the Summicron-C 40mm F2 lens.
Featuring a 40mm viewfinder frame and vertical-running shutter, the CL has mechanisms distinct from the M-series. The viewfinder also includes frames for 50mm and 90mm, providing essential functions in a compact design. Once you start using it, you'll appreciate its exceptional quality.
The Summicron-C 40mm lens offers a perfect angle of view, with a minimum focusing distance of 80cm, making it ideal for snapshots and travel photography. This unit has been fully serviced for both the body and lens in 2023, ensuring reliable performance for your use.
There is a very faint scratch to the right of the Leitz logo on the top cover, and slight black chrome wear on the bottom plate. However, it has avoided the dents and impacts that are common with the CL, maintaining a generally good exterior condition.
Both the body and lens were fully overhauled in 2023, and all operations remain smooth. The rubber hood, which tends to deteriorate, still retains its elasticity. There is some coating degradation visible around the edges of the rear element, but it should have no impact on image quality. The light meter is functioning correctly, making this an excellent choice for those new to Leica film cameras.
While the original filter was meant to be clamped between the rubber hood using Series 5.5 filters, this unit includes an E39 black UVa filter. Additionally, the rubber hood, case, and strap are all included, making it ready for immediate use.
