※About rarity

Summicron 50mm f2, Second-generation. Leitz product code 11817. Manufactured in 1975. 6 lements in 5 groups, commonly referred to as the "six-element version." Starting from this renewed second model in 1969, the minimum focusing distance was reduced to 0.7m.

Although often overshadowed by the highly regarded first-generation Summicron, this lens offers excellent image quality and improved usability due to the removal of the infinity lock. It’s a practical choice for everyday use, and its lightweight construction, with an aluminum barrel weighing around 200g, is another appealing feature.

The lens is in excellent cosmetic condition with very little sign of use. The paint on exposed areas, such as the filter threads and knurled edges, remains intact. The operation of both the aperture and focusing rings feels smooth. While the six-element Summicron is known for losing rangefinder coupling at intermediate distances, this particular unit maintains proper rangefinder coupling from close focus to infinity.

The lens has some very light coating marks on the internal elements, only visible under strong LED light, but these will not affect image quality. Otherwise, the glass is in excellent condition with no significant scratches.

This lens is perfect for anyone looking for a second-generation Summicron in excellent condition. It comes with the original front cap, plastic case, and box.
