Summicron-M 35mm f2 ASPH. Black Paint. This lens is part of a limited edition set released with the Leica M240, known as the Ara Guler Special Edition Set.
It is one of the 50 sets worldwide (reportedly sold only at Leica Turkey) and is marked with the special serial number 17/50. Manufactured in 2016, it is based on the Summicron ASPH. II model.
Ara Guler (1928–2018) was a master of Turkish photography and was known as the "Eye of Istanbul." He was renowned for his long-term documentation of daily life in Turkey as well as portraits of famous figures such as Churchill, Picasso, Dali, and Hitchcock (see https://www.araguler.com.tr). Notably, he received the Master of Leica award in 1962.
The lens features a striking black paint finish with red and white lettering. The dedicated hood and front and rear caps are also finished in black paint and are made of solid brass, adding a substantial weight.
While it was sold as part of a special Leica M240 set, it can also be a great match for recent black-painted M-type Leica cameras.
Shows no signs of use and is in near-new condition. It maintains a beautiful black paint finish.
All functions are working correctly. The glass is clear, with no cleaning marks or haze, and provides a sharp view. The results from test shots were also excellent. This is an example where you can fully experience the lens’s original performance.
Perfect for those looking for something a little different.
