The Tele-Elmarit-R 350mm f4.8 is a super-telephoto lens for Leica R cameras, introduced in 1980. This particular model, manufactured in 1981 with serial number 314xxxx, was made in Germany. It features a 5-element, 7-group design, with a minimum aperture of f22 and a closest focusing distance of 3 meters. The lens measures 282mm in length and weighs approximately 1.8kg, with a filter thread of E77.
This lens comes with a robust construction, including a metal built-in hood and a tripod mount that allows for a 90-degree angle adjustment. The overall build quality is impressive, with a high sense of rigidity.
Due to its weight and the difficulty of handholding without camera shake, using a monopod is advisable. With the use of an extender, you can achieve 490mm with a 1.4x extender or 700mm with a 2x extender. It's a great addition for capturing those distant shots, such as at a fall sports event—every family could use one!
The lens shows minor paint wear and scuffs on the front edge of the hood and the tripod mount, but overall, it remains in very good condition. There are no cleaning marks or haze, and the glass is clean and clear.
All functions are in good working order, and the results from practical testing were excellent. The original case and front and rear caps are included.
