The Heligon 35mm f2.8, manufactured by Rodenstock in Germany, with a Leica screw mount. The helicoid’s distance scale is marked in meters. Released in 1955, it features a Gauss-type design with 4 groups and 6 elements.
Renowned for its sharp imaging and natural color rendering, this lens has long been highly regarded. It delivers excellent resolution even when wide open, achieving sharp focus. Combined with gentle vignetting, it allows for creating images with a distinctive atmosphere.
Compatible filter sizes are 22mm or 22.5mm screw-in. Weighs 178g. It is coated with a subtle purple tint.
There are slight signs of repair on the filter rim, but overall, the exterior is in excellent condition. Leica Heligon lenses often show peeling or corrosion of the plating, but this piece retains its plating in very good condition.
Fully overhauled in September 2024. Thanks to meticulous servicing, the aperture and helicoid rings operate smoothly. The glass is clear, and rangefinder coupling works perfectly.
Optically, there is very slight balsam separation around the edge of the rear element, and a few faint cleaning marks on the front element, but these have virtually no impact on image quality. There is no haze or other issues, leaving the glass beautifully clear.
Test results were outstanding, with sharp and three-dimensional rendering. Please take a look at the sample images for reference.
Comes with a Rodenstock-marked plastic case.
