Leitz Summilux 50mm f1.4 Early Model, Rare Leica Screw Mount
Leitz product code: SOWGE or 11014. Serial number: 1,700,000, manufactured in 1959. First generation.
The rare Summilux 50mm L-mount was supplied in only 548 units between 1960 and 1963 for Barnack users. This screw mount lens exists in both first and second versions, and this particular one is the first-generation early model.
When mounted on a Leica IIIf or IIIg, this lens stands out beautifully. Its image quality is exceptional. It is an excellent choice for both use and collection.
There are minor scratches on the filter rim due to the attachment and detachment of the hood, and 2-3 very light scratches on the lens barrel, but otherwise, it is in very clean condition with no signs of use. Truly beautiful appearance.
Fully overhauled in September 2024. The aperture and helicoid operate very smoothly. The lens has very minimal coating damage but shows no noticeable cleaning marks or haze, providing clear and excellent glass quality. The rangefinder coupling is also in good condition. The real-world results were excellent with this lens. Despite being a first-generation Summilux, it delivers sharp images even at full aperture.
Included are the clean early XOOIM hood, hood cap, plastic case, and original box. A rare gem in exceptional condition!
