※About rarity

Early Leica M3, serial number in the 770,000 range, manufactured in 1955. Leitz product code IGEMO. This is a double-stroke Buddha ear version with a large tripod screw. Shortly after this serial range, the bright frame selector lever was introduced. The clean body without the selector lever, along with the slotted screws on the top cover, gives the 700,000-range M3 a slightly rugged charm.

All parts, including the vulcanite, are original from the time of manufacture. The slightly angular design of the back door, the ASA 200 indicator, the shiny chrome-plated earlier-style shutter, the single dot on the rewind knob, the black paint next to the back door (instead of the textured finish), and the four slotted screws on the top cover all contribute to its solid, classical feel, reminiscent of early M3 models. A must-have for fans of early models—rest assured, it's all original!

There is slight wear on the strap lugs, very faint scuffing near the Leica logo on the top cover from attaching and detaching a light meter, and two very light scratches on the bottom plate. However, aside from these minor signs of use, the overall appearance is very clean and well-preserved. The paint around the back door, which tends to wear, is in excellent condition, and the vulcanite is crisp with sharp texture.

It was overhauled in September 2024, and all operations have been finely tuned for smooth functionality. The double-stroke advance provides the characteristic light and snappy winding action.

The prism inside the viewfinder shows slight separation along the outer edges, which is a minor flaw considering the otherwise superb condition, but the view remains clear and sharp.

It comes with the original body cap, a well-used leather case for early models, and a red velvet-lined box from the same era (though the serial number does not match). A great piece for collectors!
