※About rarity

This is an early Leica Model A from 1928 with a four-digit serial number in the 8000 range, later officially upgraded by Leitz to a DII. The camera features a semi-chrome finish and added strap lugs—a detail sure to appeal to collectors and connoisseurs.
Leitz's in-house upgraded models are often referred to as Factory Conversions. These upgrades used special parts supplied by Leitz specifically for this purpose, as standard DII or IIf components could not simply be installed into Model A bodies. It’s a testament to Leitz’s attentive and tailored customer service in that era.
Fitted with chrome parts, this camera pairs beautifully not only with chrome-finished Elmars, but also with classic fast Leitz lenses like the Summarit, rigid-mount Summicron, or Summilux.

Natural paint wear can be seen where fingers typically make contact, adding to the camera’s charm. All components remain original and intact. There is a scratch mark on the 1/200 setting of the shutter speed dial, but fortunately it is not very noticeable.
The camera was fully serviced in April 2025, and all mechanical operations are smooth. The viewfinder is bright and clear, with strong rangefinder contrast.
A uniquely appealing DII—factory-modified from an A-type, featuring a rare four-digit serial, semi-chrome finish, and strap lugs—this is a standout piece with both character and history.
