Tele-Elmarit 90mm f2.8, also known as the Fat Elmarit. It features a black chrome finish and the later yellow scale. With a serial number in the 2,480,000 range, it was manufactured in 1971 by Leitz Canada. It has a 5-element, 5-group construction. The Leitz product code is 11800.
Despite being a mid-telephoto lens with a bright f2.8 aperture, it has a compact barrel comparable to standard lenses. It maintains usability with a moderate weight and easy-to-operate helicoid position. The beautifully knurled design is reminiscent of the Summilux 50mm, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
At near wide-open apertures, it produces pleasantly soft images. When stopped down, the contrast increases significantly, resulting in richly detailed images. The suitable hood is 12575, and the filter size is E39.
There are hardly any scuffs or signs of wear, and the exterior is in excellent, near-unused condition. The deep black chrome with white and yellow lettering looks striking. All parts operate smoothly, and the rangefinder coupling works perfectly. You can enjoy shooting comfortably even at wide-open aperture.
There are a few extremely fine dust particles visible in the glass, but they should not affect image quality. The glass is otherwise clear and pristine. The results from the practical shooting test were also excellent.
