※About rarity

The first-generation Summilux 50mm f1.4, early version from 1960 with a serial number in the 1,750,000 range. Leitz's product code is SOOME.

The initial version of the Summilux before design changes is renowned for its soft rendering near wide-open apertures, making it a beloved model for its distinctive character. Stopping down just one stop tightens the image sharply, delivering a three-dimensional quality to the rendering. It's a lens with deep versatility that allows for a broad range of expression.

Its elegant and beautiful finish seamlessly integrates with modern digital bodies without feeling out of place—a timeless design that remains universally appealing.

The lens shows very minimal signs of use and is in excellent condition with its silver chrome finish.

It underwent a full overhaul in 2021, ensuring that both aperture and focusing helicoid operate with unchanged, exquisite torque, providing a smooth user experience. Focus is exceptionally good, and rangefinder coupling is spot on.

Regarding the glass, there are minor coating marks on the front element and slight edge haze along the middle element, which should not affect real-world performance. Otherwise, the glass is clear and pristine.

The practical shooting test results were also excellent. Enjoy the elegant and delicate rendering characteristic of the esteemed Summilux 1st generation.
