Summicron 50mm f2 black paint, rigid mount, early version. Serial number in the 1,580,000 range, manufactured in 1958.
This lens features an all-black paint finish on brass, making it one of the purest black paint models among the many black-painted Leica lenses. Its bold appearance pairs perfectly with the early batch of the Leica M3 black paint, the M2 black button model, as well as the MP black and M3 black counter models.
The lens shows fine bubbling in various spots, and the brass is exposed in areas where the fingers touch, giving it a beautiful, aged character. A deeply seasoned piece, it exudes the charm of time.
While there is paint wear in various areas, there are no dents or dings. The lens underwent a full overhaul in 2024, and both the aperture and focusing ring operate very smoothly. Thanks to meticulous servicing, the rangefinder coupling is spot-on, and as expected from a black paint lens, the image quality is outstanding.
It comes with original front and rear caps. The front cap is also black-painted brass, with purple velvet lining on the inside, adding to its great aesthetic appeal.
A rare and valuable piece.
