The second generation Summicron 90mm f2, chrome version, late model. Serial number in the 1.81 million range, made in 1960 by Leitz Canada.
While the first generation had a very impressive build, this version is also refined and luxurious. It features a beautifully finished built-in retractable hood and an exquisitely matte chrome finish. The helicoid distance scale is marked in both meters and feet.
It provides high resolution images even at maximum aperture, with a gentle bokeh and minimal distortion characteristic of a medium telephoto lens.
The lens head is detachable and can be used with a ZOOEP helicoid for use with a Visoflex.
Comes with an E48 genuine UVa filter, and original front and rear caps.
The appearance is in very clean condition with hardly any signs of use.
Fully overhauled in 2024, the helicoid operates smoothly without any roughness or play, providing very fluid movement. The aperture ring clicks smoothly and securely. The aperture blades have been meticulously cleaned and are in beautiful condition. Due to its large aperture, many Summicron 90mm lenses have issues with rangefinder coupling, but this unit couples perfectly and focuses well.
There are 2-3 faint hairline scratches on the middle element's glass. Additionally, there is some slight coating deterioration, but the glass remains clear and in good condition.
The results of practical shooting tests were excellent, with sharp and clear rendering typical of the Summicron.
