Flor 75mm f2.8. A lens from the French SOM Berthiot company for Leica screw mount. It features a 4-group 6-element double Gauss design.
Despite the short production period of L-mount Berthiot lenses, they range from prototypes in solid brass to dignified pearlescent chrome-plated barrels, but this one is a combination of aluminum and brass.
Similar designs include the Angulor 28mm, Flor 50mm f1.5, and 90mm f3.5. Minimum focusing distance is 1 meter. Coupled rangefinder. It boasts Berthiot's distinctive light blue coating. A rare piece.
The exterior shows signs of use, but there are no dents or major scratches.
It underwent a full overhaul in 2017, and for this resale, the lens head has been refurbished.
All functions work smoothly. The rangefinder coupling is precise. The front and middle glass elements show signs of aging, with slight yellowing and weathering. Additionally, there are point-like coating blemishes and whitening on the middle glass element.
Depending on the angle of light, there may be some flare in the center of the frame, but meticulous internal polishing during the overhaul has greatly reduced this.
The test results are excellent. It includes examples from previous sales, but I would appreciate it if you could visit the showroom. It delivers beautiful imagery with Berthiot's characteristic soft and serene tones, showcasing meticulousness.
It comes with original aluminum hood and front cap.
