※About rarity

Nikkor-S・C 85mm f1.5, Leica screw mount. Made by Nippon Kogaku.

This large-aperture medium telephoto lens debuted in 1951. It features a black paint and chrome-plated finish. The lens hood is of the type that secures by inserting into two slots. It has a 3-group, 7-element construction. The distance markings are in feet, and the filter thread is 58mm.

Please note that the filter diameter and hood attachment method differ from those of the Nikkor 85mm f1.5 designed for Nikon S or Contax mounts.

It is said that approximately 2,000 units were produced across three types: Nikon, Leica, and Contax. Due to its large aperture, the lens is densely packed with glass, weighing approximately 584g. As a heavy lens, it comes with a tripod mount on the bottom.

At full aperture, it delivers a soft, gentle rendering with beautiful bokeh. The resolution is excellent, and even when stopped down, it does not become overly harsh, allowing for sharp and enjoyable images.

There are minor paint losses and scuffs, but both the black paint and chrome plating remain in good condition.

The lens underwent a full overhaul in August 2024. The aperture and helicoid operate smoothly, and the rangefinder coupling is spot-on. At full aperture, the lens performs excellently.

The glass shows no noticeable cleaning marks or haze and is clear and crisp. It has been tested with positive results, and you can enjoy its original image quality.
