Summitar 5cm, the early model of Leitz's large-aperture standard lens. Manufactured in 1940, before the war. Uncoated. Meter scale. Circular aperture.
The Summitar is the previous generation of the Summicron, and compared to previous Summar, it has improved peripheral falloff, flow, and flare at open apertures. Compared to the Summar, which has 6 elements in 4 groups, the Summitar has 7 elements in 4 groups, with an additional piece of glass.
The Summitar 50mm tends to be overshadowed by the reputation of the Summicron, but it deserves to be reevaluated as a lens that is full of the flavor of an old lens.
Comes with original front cap and Kenko SL filter.
The glass on this lens is in excellent condition, and the image quality is stunning.
There are a few scratches at the base of the lens barrel, but overall it looks good with little signs of use. There is also little wear on the retractable barrel, and it is in very good condition for a Summitar.
This unit had previously been carefully serviced, and all parts are still very smooth to move. The rangefinder linkage works perfectly.
There are no noticeable cleaning marks or haze on the glass, and it is in an unusually clean condition for a Summitar. The results of the actual shooting test in the store were also very good.
