Summicron-R 35mm f2 (Early Version). This lens was designed for the Leica Flex SL. The Leica product code is 11227, with a serial number of 2,710,000, manufactured in 1974 by Leitz Canada. It features a 2-cam design.
The lens has a 7-group, 9-element construction, with a combination of green and purple coatings. The wide-angle lens has a striking design with a cylindrical body and a robust rectangular hood, which belies its remarkable optical performance. With a minimum focusing distance of 30cm, it is a versatile lens that greatly expands your shooting capabilities.
This unit comes with a relatively well-preserved original hood and a third-party series filter.
The exterior shows minor black chrome wear at the corners of the helicoid and aperture rings, but it's in a nice, practical condition.
A full overhaul conducted, refreshing the lens completely. The aperture ring and helicoid operate smoothly with just the right amount of torque, providing an excellent feel.
There is some noticeable coating deterioration visible only under strong LED light, but there are no cleaning marks or haze, resulting in clear, beautiful glass. This Summicron is a pleasure to use.
Sample images have been posted in the test gallery. With a pleasing sharpness and soft bokeh, this lens makes shooting a delightful experience.
