※About rarity

Gamma III, Italian Air Force version. R.Aeronautica engraving on the top cover. The III model was manufactured between 1950 and 1951.
Gamma is a stylish and highly unique Italian-made Leica copy, but it suffers from precision issues with its parts, making it rare to find one that functions properly.

This unit is the final model of Gamma, the III type, which adopted the Leica screw mount. The Gamma I featured its own bayonet mount, while the II model had a Leica screw mount without a slow shutter. The III type retained the Leica L mount and added a slow shutter. Approximately 2000 units of Gamma were produced across all types, with the III model accounting for about 800 to 1000 units.

For Gamma, interchangeable lenses included the Koristka Victor 55mm, Officine Galileo, Som Berthiot, Angenieux 50mm and 90mm lenses, among others.

It features a double magazine (compatible with Patrone) and lacks a rewind knob. The bottom cover, similar to Rollei 35, Contax I, and Voigtlander Vitessa, opens directly from the rear. Since it lacks a rewind function, the film must be cut using a film cutter after shooting.

The shutter curtain is metal with a rounded shape. The rangefinder roller is located at the bottom of the mount and is compatible with Leica L mount, allowing for the use of various lenses.

While its form resembles that of a Leica, Gamma stands out from all other Leica copies worldwide, reflecting distinct Italian characteristics. A rare find.

There are a few very faint scratches on the bottom cover, but otherwise, it has a very clean appearance. It was fully serviced in April 2024. Known as a camera that is very difficult to repair, it is currently operating smoothly! However, due to issues with part precision, it doesn't have the same reliability as Leica or Japanese Leica copies, so it's not suited for heavy practical use.

This camera is irresistible for mechanical enthusiasts. The included magazine is a generic type.
