A masterpiece, the Septack 2-inch f1.5, approximately 50mm. This lens, originally a cinema lens made by Dallmeyer, has been carefully modified for Leica M-mount rangefinder coupling. It couples accurately from infinity down to about 0.7m. The barrel is engraved with the DC (Dall-Coated) mark and features a faint yellow coating. It weighs 216g.
True to Dallmeyer's large-aperture lenses, it offers a delicate, refined, and captivating rendering. At full aperture, it delivers a soft yet detailed and beautiful image. Stopping down to f2.8 enhances contrast significantly, transforming the rendering into a more robust and striking one.
This lens is rare and unique, offering a rich, evocative rendering. It represents the pinnacle of Dallmeyer lenses and is a rare gem.
The lens is in very clean condition with minimal signs of use. There are no dents or dings.
In 2024, the lens head underwent a full overhaul and was modified for Leica M-mount. The result is a finish so well executed that it hardly seems like a modified piece.
Due to meticulous maintenance, the operation of the aperture ring and helicoid is very smooth, and the rangefinder coupling is spot-on from infinity down to approximately 0.7m.
The lens has a tiny nick on the front element, slight cleaning marks, and some yellowing on the coating of the middle element, but these should have no impact on image quality. The test shots demonstrated a truly Septac-like rendering. The open aperture images are exceptionally beautiful, featuring a softness combined with detailed lines. We hope you can view the test shots, which include examples at full aperture and slightly stopped down.
