Angénieux 28mm f3.5 Type R11. A later model characterized by a striking silver band, manufactured in 1957. Distance markings in feet. A retrofocus-type lens with 6 groups of 6 elements. Exakta mount. Preset aperture. The minimum shooting distance is 2 feet.
Note that the R11 model has different filter diameters for the early and late versions: the early version has a 56mm diameter, while the later version uses a 58mm diameter.
This lens features the distinctively beautiful barrel design typical of Angénieux. You can enjoy its gentle rendering near wide-open apertures and the contrastingly sharp depiction when stopped down. It performs relatively well against backlight and provides rich, finely detailed images. This lens is also renowned for its excellent rendition of red tones.
Includes the original front cap.
Many units of this Angénieux model tend to show fading, but this particular unit retains a deep black paint in excellent condition. The pearlescent nickel plating on the band is also beautifully preserved.
The lens underwent a full service in May 2024. Both the aperture and helicoid have been adjusted to have a smooth, satisfactory torque, making for a pleasurable shooting experience.
There are a few very faint cleaning marks on the front element, but these will not impact the quality of your photos. Additionally, the glass is clear and pristine, free from any haze.
In terms of appearance, glass condition, and handling, it's rare to find an R11 in such good condition.
