※About rarity
The product code from Leitz is ELMAR. This is serial number 1.42 million, a red Elmar manufactured in 1956. It features a 3-group 4-element configuration with coating. It boasts a beautiful satin chrome plating finish, characteristic of Leitz's golden era post-World War II. Distance markings are in meters. As the final evolution of the A36-sized Elmar, it represents the culmination of continuous improvement from the original Elmar, resulting in a more durable design. It's often referred to as "The Standard," laying the foundation for Leica's reputation today. It's a lens that truly shines when in use, showcasing its excellent qualities. The genuine matching hood is FISON. Additionally, our original hood for the Elmar, the FB-07, is also compatible. The retaining screws are available in either brass blackened or silver lacquered finishes, both of which complement the lens well. The lens exhibits minimal wear on the retractable portion, maintaining a very clean exterior appearance. The satin chrome plating retains its beauty akin to that of a new lens. Fully serviced in 2022, meticulous maintenance ensures that all functions operate smoothly. Rangefinder coupling is precise, and the interior surfaces of the lens barrel have been carefully recoated with a matte finish to reduce internal reflections, resulting in tighter rendering. When subjected to intense LED lighting, there are slight signs of coating wear on the lens, but it is unlikely to affect image quality. Original coatings remain intact on all surfaces. Comes with a clean genuine front cap.
