※About rarity

Serial number 170,000, a 5cm Hektor from 1933 with a chrome barrel. The Leitz product code is HEKTORCHROM, marked in meters. It consists of 3 groups and 6 elements and is non-coated. With an aperture of f2.5, it's a compact and lightweight lens, Leica's first collapsible large-aperture lens. The helicoid number is 0, and the distance scale is in meters.

At wide open aperture, you can experience a soft rendering typical of vintage lenses. Hektor lenses often suffer from poor polishing or misalignment issues, making them a concern when sourcing, but this particular lens, thanks to meticulous maintenance, delivers excellent rendering, rangefinder coupling, and operational feel.

Maintaining its original condition, this Hektor allows you to enjoy its unique rendering, making it quite a rare find.

There are some signs of use such as chrome wear on the focus knob and minor scratches on the collapsible section, but overall, this chrome Hektor maintains a fairly clean appearance compared to many well-used units.

In May 2024, it underwent a full service, including focus adjustment. The aperture and focusing rings operate smoothly, and the rangefinder coupling is accurate. The interior surfaces of the lens barrel have been carefully lacquered to prevent internal reflections.

The lens is in excellent condition with no haze, providing clear and beautiful glass.

Comes with genuine front and rear caps.

Sample results were also positive, all shot wide open. I would be delighted if you could take a look at the sample gallery.
