While subsequent iterations of the Rollei 35 were manufactured in Singapore with minor changes, the original German-made version stands out with its distinct feel and clarity of the viewfinder. It exudes a sense of solidity and quality that is palpable when held. The Tessar 40mm f3.5 lens provides deep depth of field, making it enjoyable for shooting by estimation. The nostalgic rendering of the Tessar lens adds depth to the shooting experience, reminding one of the joy of shooting with film. Comes with genuine Rollei hand strap, case, German-language manual, and a copy cap. There are scratches on the top cover, as well as marks and signs of wear on the corners. Additionally, there are some scratches on the black frame of the viewfinder eyepiece, indicating minor signs of use. However, the shutter and winding mechanism operate smoothly. The light meter has been tested with a 1.35V conversion adapter and is confirmed to be working. While there is slight deterioration of the coating on the middle element, overall it is clear and should not affect image quality. The viewfinder is also clear and provides a sharp view. To collapse the lens, first wind up the film advance lever, then press the release button on the top cover while turning the lens counterclockwise to retract it. This masterpiece from Rollei, designed by the German genius designer Heinz Waaske, had a significant influence on the future of compact cameras.
