※About rarity
Angénieux DEM 180mm APO, a large-aperture telephoto lens. Manufactured in 1987, it features a 5-group 8-element apochromat design and is compatible with the Leica R mount with 3 cams. Its unique design includes a resin-coated barrel with an integrated hood, making it quite compact. It weighs approximately 1080g according to actual measurements and delivers sharp, vivid images that are sure to impress. Included with the lens are the original box, warranty card (although it lacks a purchase date, rendering it invalid, the lens is still covered by an impressive 30-year warranty!), instruction manual, pouch, front and rear caps, a Kenko filter, and a dedicated tripod mount adapter EP68. This warranty period may seem a bit ambitious, but it also speaks to the confidence Angénieux had in their products at the time. There are signs of wear and some shine on the resin parts due to use, but there are no significant scratches or cracks in the resin components. All functions work properly. During our practical testing with the Leica SL typ601, the lens delivered crisp and sharp images. The glass exhibits the characteristic dust particles typical of Angénieux lenses from this era, along with minor coating wear. However, there are no prominent haze or noticeable wiping scratches.
