※About rarity
Coated Elmar 3.5cm f/3.5, chrome finish. Manufactured in 1939. Featuring convenient meter distance scale. Constructed with 4 elements in 3 groups. This Elmar 35mm, considered one of the slimmest lenses by Leitz, following the Hektor, likely received Leitz's post-war authentic coating. Among Leitz lenses, this Elmar 35mm stands out for its slim profile and the atmospheric vignetting at wide apertures. With continued use, it reveals a depth of character in its images. Furthermore, our original FB-07 hood with aperture control functionality is compatible with this Elmar 35mm. For those frustrated by the inability to adjust aperture while using the FLOOQ hood and a 19mm filter simultaneously, we invite you to give it a try. Overall, it has a very clean appearance. There are minimal signs of chrome wear on the mount surface, but otherwise, the nameplate and the chrome finish on the base are exceptionally beautiful, presenting a fantastic condition. It underwent a full service in March 2024. All parts operate smoothly, and the rangefinder coupling is accurate. The inner surface of the barrel has been meticulously recoated with matte lacquer, promising tighter rendering. The coated glass shows extremely minor coating deterioration, visible only when exposed to powerful LED light. However, this is unlikely to affect actual photography. There are no prominent cleaning marks or haze. During real-world testing in-store, its robust imaging quality underscored the benefits of the coating. It comes with a clean original front cap and a Bakelite case.
