※About rarity
Elmar 50mm f/3.5, nickel-plated brass barrel. The Leitz product code is ELMAR. Manufactured in 1931. The infinity stop knob features a somewhat rare flat type known as the "bell push." The glass is non-coated, and the distance scale is in meters. It is the 6th version of the helicoid. This lens, having turned 93 years old in 2024, remains robust and operational. It has likely witnessed and captured countless life events and scenes, transcending borders and eras. Even in the digital age, it continues to be a reliable performer, embodying Leica's standard lens par excellence. There are very minor abrasions typical of regular use on the retractable barrel and base, but overall, it maintains a clean and tidy appearance with no distortion on the nameplate. This unit has undergone a full service, ensuring smooth operation of all components. The rangefinder coupling works perfectly. The inner surface of the barrel has been meticulously coated with matte lacquer to prevent internal reflections, resulting in crisp images. The front element exhibits slight deterioration and minor cleaning marks, but their impact on photography is negligible. There is no haze present. Practical shooting results have been excellent. Ready for use.
