※About rarity
Leica M4 Black Paint shipped in August 1969, coinciding with the legendary Woodstock Festival. Clearly, this camera has seen its fair share of use, as evidenced by the significant paint wear on areas where fingers would naturally touch. However, there are minimal signs of dents or dings, indicating that it was cherished and well cared for by a photographer who understood how to handle a camera. What makes this M4 Black Paint somewhat rare is the presence of patina on the top cover, adding to its rugged and distinguished appearance. Despite its considerable use, the paint and various parts remain in their original condition. The operation of each component feels smooth and precise. The vulcanite covering has softened over the years, providing a comfortable grip. This M4 Black Paint is a rare find that has been beautifully and meticulously used. It's a testament to how well these cameras can age when cared for properly. On the exterior, there is a minor indentation observed above the left-side strap lug when facing the front, but there are no noticeable dents elsewhere. Service in 2019 and viewfinder was cleaned. The visibility of the viewfinder and the double image are both excellent. Despite being a well-used body, the winding, shutter dial & release, and bright frame selector lever all offer smooth and pleasant operation. It's a camera meant to be used extensively and enjoyed to the fullest.
