※About rarity
Serial number 11820. This is the first-generation Noctilux F1.2 lens, manufactured in 1967, part of the early batch. It follows the second batch of Noctilux lenses with serial number 2.24 million. Released in 1966, it was the first lens from Leitz to feature non-spherical glass, with a configuration of 4 groups and 6 elements. Noctilux, meaning "night light," has high-contrast reproduction to capture faint light, allowing for unique rendering with distinctive bokeh and edge falloff. It stands out as a unique lens among Leitz's distinctive lineup. While the appearance shows some signs of use, it has undergone a full overhaul, ensuring clean glass and excellent performance. Ready for practical use! There are signs of paint wear due to use, but no dents or dings are present. The included 12503 hood shows minor scratches, slight dings, and fading of the black chrome. Fully serviced in March 2024, the operation of the aperture and helicoid rings is very smooth. Rangefinder coupling is accurate, ensuring sharp focus from wide open to stopped down. The lens is free from noticeable wiping marks or haze, providing clear and crisp images. Test results were also good. You can view sample images in our showroom, where the lens was shot at apertures ranging from wide open to f/2.8. Included with the lens are the 12503 hood, front and rear caps, and a Series 8 filter.
