※About rarity
Elmar 50mm f3.5, nickel-plated barrel. Leitz product code is ELMAR. Manufactured in 1933. Glass is non-coated. Meter scale. Helicoid number is 7. Maintains the same 4 elements in 3 groups as the old Elmar. This is the new Elmar from the era of Leica DII and DIII, featuring rangefinder coupling. The cornerstone of Leica's reputation today, The Standard Lens. Even after over 90 years, this old lens remains timeless, a testament to Leitz's craftsmanship that continues to excel in active duty. From the era of Barnack to Leica M and digital camera, it's enjoyable to choose a companion lens that transcends generations. Beyond its stable rendering, its modest nickel shine and lightweight compactness rarely found in modern lenses, are also appealing. The nickel-plated barrel shows some minor abrasions but no dents or significant damage. It gives the impression of careful use, with the nickel plating still retaining its shine. The black paint on the lens rim and the engraving on the nameplate are crisply preserved. Fully serviced in March 2024. The helicoid movement is smooth and stress-free. Rangefinder coupling is precise, and focusing is excellent! The internal anti-reflection lacquer has been meticulously reapplied, ensuring tight rendering. The glass exhibits some very light wiping marks on the front element and some slight glass deterioration on both front and rear elements, but these are unlikely to affect the image quality. Test shots yielded excellent results. This lens is ready to be used. Front and rear caps included as copies.
