※About rarity
Tele-Elmarit 90mm Black Chrome. Serial number 11800. Manufactured in 1965. Early model of the black chrome version born in Canada, featuring a rugged red scale. Despite being a telephoto lens, it has a compact size similar to a 50mm lens, fitting comfortably in the palm of your hand. It boasts exquisite knurling similar to the early Summilux glass, showcasing beautiful craftsmanship. Its moderate weight and user-friendly helicoid positioning also enhance usability. With an aperture of f2.8, it offers sufficient brightness and produces images with a moderate softness, earning acclaim for its artistic rendering. A compact and versatile telephoto lens from Leitz that proves handy when tucked into a camera bag. The black chrome and red lettering of the Tele-Elmarit are rare, and the change in lettering color significantly alters the visual impression. With a appearance similar to the black paint Summilux 50mm f/1.4, it pairs well with black-painted Leica M3, M2, and M4 cameras. There are very minimal signs of black paint wear on the knurled portion of the distance ring, but otherwise, there is hardly any noticeable usage, presenting a beautifully glossy appearance. It's in a superb condition, 95% new-like. Fully serviced in March 2024, it operates smoothly with meticulous maintenance ensuring smooth aperture and helicoid operation. The rangefinder coupling works perfectly. The excellent external condition corresponds to the quality of the glass, which shows no significant wiping marks or haze. It comes with the original matching box, making it suitable for collectors as well. It's a rare find in such immaculate condition.
