※About rarity

The first-generation Summilux 35mm f1.4 Aspherical that was equipped with aspherical lenses, following the Noctilux 50mm f1.2.

Commonly referred to as AA (Double A), the Leitz code is 11873. 9 elements in 5 groups. The filter diameter is E46, and the minimum focusing distance is 0.7m.

Aspherical lenses are used in the second and fifth groups. The manufacturing process was extremely difficult, leading to production falling behind, and it was discontinued after only a few years.

Announced at Photokina in 1990, but based on the serial number, this particular lens was manufactured in 1988. It may have been produced in anticipation of sales following the announcement, hinting at the challenges faced in its production. Such speculation by later generations is given credibility by the lens’s remarkable performance. Despite being a 35mm wide-angle lens, its rendering creates a sense of depth, consistently impressing in test shots.

As is typical for AA examples, there are slight scuffs on the front barrel from attaching and detaching the hood, but overall, it has a very clean appearance.

It underwent a full overhaul in 2022. Thanks to careful maintenance, it still offers a pleasant operational feel. The rangefinder coupling is good throughout its entire range. The lens is free of haze and cleaning marks, maintaining exceptional clarity. Test shots taken at the store have yielded outstanding results.

It comes with the original matching-number box, 12587 hood and hood cap, front and rear lens caps, and a pouch. The hood and hood cap show signs of use.
