The earlier version was marked OLLUX — this piece is the Version 3, engraved with the later code 12522H.
First unveiled at Photokina in 1960 as the world’s fastest wide-angle lens, the Summilux 35mm went through several design updates—such as changes to the filter mount—yet remained in production until the introduction of the ASPH version in the 1990s.
This hood is specifically made for the earliest Steel Rim version of the Summilux 35mm.
It’s a beautifully shaped hood that not only functions effectively but also enhances the refined design of the early Summilux 35mm.
The snap-on mounting system is both unique and clever—an excellent example of Leitz’s thoughtful engineering.
This is a previously sold item that has returned to us. It was carefully used and remains in excellent condition, just as it was at the time of its last sale.
There is a small scuff on the black paint along the edge where it mounts to the lens, but overall the hood shows minimal signs of use and is in very clean condition. Mounting has been tested and confirmed on the lens.
The OLLUX hood can be surprisingly hard to find when you need one — if you plan to acquire a Summilux 35mm 1st in the future, we highly recommend securing the hood in advance.
