※About rarity
Elmar-C 40mm f2. This lens is manufactured by Leitz, Germany, with a product code of 11542. It was supplied for the Leitz-Minolta CL and Leica CL starting from 1973 as a standard lens. This particular item was manufactured in 1974. 6 elements in 4 groups. Minimum focusing distance of 0.8 meters. With its versatile angle of view between 35mm and 50mm, it provides the characteristic contrast and atmospheric rendering typical of Leitz lenses. Furthermore, its compact and lightweight design compared to the Summicron 35mm lens is another appealing feature. Compatible filters include Series 5.5 or E39. The original 12518 rubber hood still retains its elasticity. The lens barrel shows no signs of wear or scratches, presenting a remarkably clean exterior. Fully serviced in March 2024, it offers seamless operation with smooth helicoid movement and satisfying aperture clicks. While on our Leica M10-P, M240, M9, etc., the rangefinder image slightly falls short at infinity, in actual shooting, the rangefinder coupling works perfectly across the entire range, ensuring accurate focusing. There are no noticeable wiping marks or haze, resulting in exceptionally clear glass. The internal anti-reflective matte lacquer has been cleanly reapplied, promising sharper rendering. Test shooting results were also excellent. We invite you to visit our gallery for a closer look.
