Released 7 years after the original Nikon S3, this model was reissued for press use during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and is also known as the reproduction model. Approximately 2000 units were produced. It is equipped with a titanium shutter curtain. The camera's distance scale is in meters, and the viewfinder features frames for 35mm, 50mm, and 105mm lenses. The standard Nikkor 5cm f1.4 lens included with it underwent a design change from the previous 3-group 7-element Sonnar type to a 5-group 7-element Gauss type, with a fully black barrel. It is commonly referred to as the Olympic Nikkor. There are hardly any signs of use visible. It's a standout piece for display in a collection, but also offers the enjoyment of being a beloved camera to use and develop a bond with. Both the body and lens have been serviced. There are very minor dents near the top cover corners around the eyepiece, and some shine is visible on the bottom plate. Otherwise, there are no noticeable paint losses, and the camera exhibits minimal signs of use, boasting a very clean appearance that could be mistaken for a reproduction model due to its excellent condition. The black paint also retains a matte texture. In March 2024, both the body and lens serviced, resulting in smooth operation of all functions. You can use it with confidence. The view through the finder is clear and sharp, with excellent contrast for double images. Significant signs of fungus are visible on the rear element of the Olympic Nikkor lens, but it has been thoroughly cleaned, and there should be no further progression.
