※About rarity

Serial number in the 1,240,000 range. This is a well-seasoned 1969 August-shipped Leica M4 black paint, coming from a month of significant historical moments. Following the Apollo moon landing in July, August saw iconic performances at the Woodstock Festival by Jimi Hendrix and The Who, and the premiere of the first film in the beloved "Tora-san" series. This Leica, born in such a dynamic month, carries the spirit of that transformative time.
The camera retains all its original features, including the vulcanite, with a well-used appearance that still holds much potential for further maturation. It's an excellent candidate for extensive use, allowing a new owner to truly make this M4BP their own.
The M4's modern design, which shares stylistic elements with later models like the M6 and the current MP, pairs well with both vintage pre-war and modern Leica lenses, whether they are chrome or black. This versatility makes it an outstanding choice for photographers who appreciate a camera that fits seamlessly across eras.

There are minor dings near the film counter and three on the baseplate, but overall, the camera gives the impression of having been carefully and lovingly used. All parts are original from the time of manufacture.
The camera was serviced in 2024. The operation of the winding mechanism and shutter dial is smooth, and the feel of the controls is excellent. The viewfinder is clear and the double image contrast for rangefinder focusing is strong.
This Leica M4 presents a nice balance of wear, adding to its appealing character. The included body cap is made of black plastic on the back side.
